The north coast of Mallorca has become one of the main locations for the practice of the diving in the island. There is only one specialized diving center in Sóller where their monitors will teach you the most recondite secrets which are hidden in the Mediterranean depth. Their modern and designed specifically for diving boats, have all the equipment of support to enjoy their immersions in the most absolut security: radio VHF, telephone, diesel engine, oxygen and first-aid kit, decompression´s trapeze, special stair, bottle rack, extense baths and platform to equip and to jump comfortable and easily to the sea. The center offers the international standards of the recreation diving at level of planning the immersions, being the profile half of their immersions between 15 and 25 meters, without surpassing the 40 meters under no circumstances. There are more than thirty places to dive with an impressive visibility in the north coast of Mallorca. There are caverns in the sea´s depth that form spectacular lights, ideals for the photo-sub. It´s the perfect occasion to know all the fauna of the Mediterranean like "sargs", "brunes", "mers", "barracudes", coral, "salpes", lobsters, "nudibranchios", "rogers" and many more.
Diving
Port de Sóller has an extense list of interest places. The visitor has several options. In the urban centre can be visited the neighborhood of "Santa Catalina", the fishing piers, the small chapel of "Sant Ramon de Penyafort" or the "Santa Catalina"´s oratory where the Sea´s Museum is placed. There is in front of this building the small square of the "Miranda" -Bay Window- that, how its own name indicates, is a balcony on a rugged cliff opened towards the Mediterranean Sea. An unappealable route is the hill to the lighthouse "Cap Gros" of Muleta, from where the visitor will enjoy one of the best views of the bay. Either can be discarded to rise until the "Picada" Tower, a military fortification of the 17th century that was built on the cliffs to comply with the function of watching and defense coastal against the Saracenic incursions. In the zone of the piers, where the air smells at sea, it is an inexcusable visit to observe the work of the sailors when they work in the repair of their tools of fishing or when they unload the fish which arrives to the port. The carpenters of shore (teachers of adze) who work in the repair and maintenance of the traditional fishing vessels, can today still be seen in this small fishing port.
Beaches
Port de Sóller has two beaches, "Es Traves" and "Ca´n Repic". There is the possibility to practice several nautical sports like going in canoe or sail in small sailing boats. The beaches of Sóller have all services. The beach "Es Través" is placed in the end of the route from the road between Sóller and Port, on the right side of the bay. It has a length of 800 meters and a width of 20, its level of occupation is half, with users local and visitors, their accesses with vehicle as well as for the pedestrians are good and their accesses for handicapped people are excellent. It´s a natural beach of gravel and sand, with calm sea and sometimes with the moderate Mediterranean breeze, their bottom of normal angle and depending on the season with flows of water of streams and torrents. In relation to the services for the visitor, it is necessary to mention the footbridges for handicapped people, public telephones, showers beside the beach, possibility to do activities of beach and navigation, besides the corresponding flags of signaling and a tower of vigilance and rescue, which has a low risk and it´s a very safe beach, under municipal management
If the visitor goes from Sóller, the "Ca´n Repic" beach is situated on the left part of the Port´road in the same bay. This beach is in front of the promenade for pedestrians of the same name, with a length of 250 meters and width of 20. It´s situated in the same bay of the Port. It has a graduation of half occupation, and it´s an urban beach with local and visitors users, with a maritime promenade for pedestrians, good parking and, especially, with magnificent accesses for handicappedThe type of beach is natural, with the sea generally calm, it blows sometimes the Mediterranean breeze with its moderate wind, and is compound for sand and gravel. There are some groynes for the vessels, which are totally delimited. The services for the visitor are very complete, existing footbridges for handicapped people, public telephones, showers beside the beach, to rent boats, sport and nautical zones, and dry docks. In relation to the bathers security has to be stood out the system of signaling flags, the watchtowers, that in spite of to be of low risk, it is a service of municipal management like its daily cleaning.
