Places of interest
As much Sóller as the Port have a vast cultural and ethnologic patrimony worthy of being contemplated by the visitor.

-Parish of Sant Bartomeu-

Built before 1236, this temple has suffered several modifications along the centuries. Nowadays it presents a baroque structure (1688-1733), a neo-Gothic belfry and a modernist façade designed by the architect Joan Rubio in 1904. Around the building the visitor can see rests of the romanic portals and windows as well as the fortified walls of the 16th century.

-The Bank of Sóller-

People constructed in year 1889 with the money of the emigrants. The building is a work of Joan Rubio (1912), typically modernist. The Bank is remarkable for its roof structure, its main entrance with its arch and its forged iron windows.

-La Posada of Ca´n Prohom-

"La Posada" is the residence that the rich agricultural owners of the Tramuntana Mountain Range had in the valley. Its civil baroque structure is typical of the Mallorca of the 18th century. Its appearance is solid and frugal in decoration.

-House of the Moon-

Built in the 15th century, it´s a typical building of the popular architecture. The most outstanding is the figure of a moon carried out in arenisca stone in low relief.

-La Posada of Montcaire-

This small residential palace is a sample of the baroque architecture in transition to the Neoclassical of the end of the 18th century. The visitor should pay special attention to the overhanging roof with its tiles painted in red and white with geometric, vegetable or anthropomorphic motives.

-The "Crist de la Sang" Church-

A simple and robust neoclassical temple that was reconstructed on the primitive chapel of 1564-1572. It´s dedicated to the Crist "de la Sang", represantated by a polychromatic statue of 1556, and to the image of "La Mare de Deu de la Victoria" (1572).

-Ca´n Prunera-

The House has one of Sóller´s most artistic and elaborated façades in modernist style built between 1909 and 1911. The visitor should special attention to the details in stone, wood and forged iron that decorate the building.

-The municipal market-

The market, planned by the architect Francesc Cerdó, was inaugurated in 1952. It has a polygonal floor and a porch around the building which has several entrances. It is worth taking a look inside.

-Ca´n Nou-

The avenue Cristòfol Colom is surrounded with gardens and follows the bed of the Major torrent, which was covered in year 1912. The modernist building "Ca´n Nou" with its small tower, large windows and a verana is situated on the left side of this avenue.

-Museum of Sóller-Culture Centre-

It is a modest family house with garden, builded in 1740, which now the ethnologic museum of the city is placed. It is recommended that the visitor dedicates half an hour to visit it

-Gran Via-

This is the avenue where the most important private houses of modernist and regional historical style are situated.The majority of houses and small palaces in this street were built at the end of the 19th century and principles of XX with the money that the emigrants "sollerics" made in America and France. The culture Centre of Can Dulce is also placed in this avenue.

-The Old Town-Centre-

Streets like Vicari Pastor, Murta, Cristòfol Pizà o Sant Antoni are the best examples of the old town centre. Away from the traffic noise, the visitor can observe the different states of the urbanistic evolution of the last 300 years.

-Spain Square-

The square was created at the end of the 19th century and completed in 1912 when the Major Torrent was covered. The visitor will find here the monument to the Spanish Civil War excombatants (1940), a Gabriel Alomar work.

-The Railway Station-

The formerly fortified property of Ca´n Mayol (1606) was transformed into a railway station during the years 1911-1912. The visitor can see on the front wall the memorial stone dedicated to the founder of the railway company of Sóller, Jeroni Estades. You will also find here two permanent exhibitions dedicated to Joan Miró and Picasso, besides the offices of the train.

-The "Sagrats Cors" convent-

Walking from Plaça d´ Espanya (Spain Square) along Isabel II street the visitor can admire the senorial houses in modernist and regional style. At the end of the street is the "Sagrats Cors" Convent (18th century), which has a cloister and a church of baroque style.

-Museum of Natural Sciences- Botanical Garden-

This small modernist palace was fitted out as a museum of science in 1995. It accommodates several temporary or permanent galleries related with the zoology, the botany and the geology of Mallorca. The attached botanical garden, picks up a remarkable collection of endemic plants of Mallorca, Canary Islands and other zones of the Mediterranean.

-The Cemetery-

The cemetery of Sóller is a real garden, full of flowers and plants, provided with beautiful statues of great plastic value, works for artists of renown. The terrains were baptized in 1814. The cemetery is distributed in five extense terraces openned to the valley. Numerous graves have the modernist footprint of principles of the 20th century.

-The Three Crosses- "Ses Tres Creus"-

It is a monument dedicated to the "Sagrat Cor"of Jesus. The visitor can get there on a road that departs from the municipal cemetery. It is an unfinished religious structure from which there is panoramic view of the valley.

-Biniaraix-

Placed in 1 '2 kilometers of Sóller, next to the path which goes to the ravine, the centre of Biniaraix is one of the most pleasant places of the region of Sóller. It has an excellent view on the city and the mountains of its environment, sustaining the character and the structure of a mountain range´s village. Their neighbors tell that the sun rises in winter three times to Biniaraix because of the scarce altitude that the king star has, which hides behind the twin mountains called "Els Cornadors".

-The Small Chapel -"Sa Capelleta"-

The Small Chapel is a small rural monastery placed in the surroundings of the road to the Puig Major. There is a small congregation of closure nuns who live surrounded in calmness, picturesque landscapes and centennial olive trees.

-"Alqueria del Comte"-

Quarter long ago broken up from the city that nowadays after the urban growth finds itself joined. The visitor should special attention to a cross of term and a small church dedicated to Sant Felip Neri. Their streets are narrow.

-Parish of "Sant Ramon de Penyafort"-

Started in 1938, the inside nave is unique and has four pieces divided by arches pointed out from the basis. The lateral altarpieces are remarkable.

-Quarter of "Santa Catalina"-

Typical center of seamen population with very elevated streets. The Oratory of "Sant Ramon de Penyafort" (ancient church of the Port) dates from ends of the 17th century.

-"Santa Catalina" ´s Oratory - Sea´s Museum-

The oratory is from the 13th century, it was destroyed by the pirates in 1542 and rebuilt in 1550. Nowadays it lodges the Museum of the Sea, space dedicated to the relation of Sóller with the sea. It allows the itinerary for the history through the audiovisual technique.

-The "Picada" Tower-

Defense and watching tower erected among 1614 and 1623 to prevent the pirates attacks. It´s placed in a cliff on the Mediterranean Sea.
